This webinar ocuses on surgical decision-making in scoliosis as patients transition from paediatric to adult care. The discussion will cover indications for surgery, appropriate patient selection, and considerations for managing young adults through to adult populations.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Christopher Nielsen is an Assistant Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Toronto and practices at Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network. His clinical focus is spine surgery, treating a wide range of spinal pathologies across the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral regions. His areas of expertise include adult spinal deformity and complex revision surgery.

Dr. Nielsen completed medical school and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Calgary, followed by a fellowship in complex spine surgery at Toronto Western Hospital, where he has been practicing since 2018. He is a Surgeon Educator and currently serves as Spine Fellowship Program Director at Toronto Western Hospital, Orthopaedic Director for the ACPAC Program, and Spine Subspecialty Lead for the Canadian Orthopaedic Association.

His academic interests include patient education and experience, augmented reality in surgical training, and outcomes research in spinal deformity surgery.
